Hummingbird Territory

This summer we have been entertained in our back yard by a small group of hummingbirds zipping around. We regularly see four of them and they spend more time chasing each other defending their territories than feeding. There are at least six other feeders in our immediate neighbors’ yards so there is plenty of spots to go around but they aren’t into sharing.

Occasionally one or two will rest in the Crepe Myrtle or high in one of the Pines.

  1. The shot with the two at the feeder is fabulous!
We have Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds at our property every year.
This year I spent an inordinate amount of time stalking them, trying for a great contest-winning photo.
Came away with nothing much, but a couple long shots of perched birds.
I hope to do a “Photoshoot” post on Crescent Moon Studio, to show the couple snapshots and tell the tale of “The Wild Hummingbird Hunt”!

    Nice work!

    1. Thanks, Paz! I’ve done that stalking myself, also with disappointing results. The hummers are fun to watch and your efforts at capturing them will make a great story.
