We recently toured the Tom Yawkey Wildlife Center, a 20,000 acre property on the coast of South Carolina that is managed by the state Department of Natural Resources. The Center is only accessible by crossing the Intracoastal Waterway by boat and only on pre-arranged tours.
The property is magnificent and includes some fresh water ponds that were glowing with reflected color and rippled by passing Alligators.
Lovely shots. I can’t imagine fall colours and alligators in the same image (not in these parts)😏
Thanks. The alligators should be tucking in soon for the winter.
beautiful shot of the alligator and the rippling colors!
Thanks and thanks for stopping by,
Have never been there Ellen, but your photos definitely make me want to give it a try. May just wait for spring tho – a boat ride this time of year down here can be a little iffy!!
Thanks, Tina. The boat just goes across the Intracoastal Waterway, about fifty feet at that point. The rest of the tour is by bus-. I highly recommend it! The tour we were on was “general interest” and we are planning to go back for a photography oriented tour. It’s unfortunate that you can’t roam on your own.
That pond is gorgeous, Ellen!
Thanks, Donna. It was a great spot that I would have liked to spend more time exploring.
These colors are surreal!
I hear myself repeating “Wow!”.
Gorgeous.
Paz
Wow, thank you, Paz! Glad you enjoyed!
