Green Heron

Slowly to the Edge

On a limb dangling over the water this Green Heron was intent on his mission.

Slowly he inched his way to the end of the branch.

And leaned, and stretched, undisturbed by the passing dragon fly.

The branch bobbed under his weight and over he went.

He was after a stick for his nest, or at least that is what he came back with.

  1. I was so drawn to these beautiful photos Ellen! I loved how intent the Green Heron looks, and the beautiful plumage against the green foliage, and the dragonfly flying by. Wonderful!

    1. They sure are–lots of other activity around him that he completely ignored. I feel for you, Belinda, after the long winter and slow spring start you’ve had.

    1. Thanks, Donna! I know, I was quite surprised and then after carefully placing the stick he flew off and I never saw him come back in the half hour I was there.
