This is neat Ellen and agree with what Pete has said. But also, there’s something that really intrigues me about this photo – they seem to turn their head and bury their bill in their plumage like so many birds do when resting… but these have a very long bill with a spoon on the end! I guess they just fold their wings over and the size of the bill isn’t really an issue but it seems amazing to me!
They are a bit goofy looking but somehow they make it work. That pink color makes them one of my favorites to watch and photograph.
