These fungi images were taken a few days apart in October. The first one was tucked up against a tree. The tree stood off a path where I couldn’t get closer. The color was what made me notice.

A few days later I saw a similarly colored free-standing patch of a similar fungus.

I am no expert and I wouldn’t advise eating them without expert opinion, but they do look very similar to chicken of the woods although not as brightly colored as they usually are.

Never, ever, would eat them! Thanks, Steve, that does look like a good match.
Nope, me either. I am sure I know these, and oyster mushrooms as well, but would not take a chance. As someone said for one of my mushroom posts, it only takes one mistake.
Such an interesting find, Ellen. Terrific crisp images. Happy Thanksgiving! š
Thanks, Jane, sometimes it pays to look down! And to you!
Iām no an expert either, but I am almost sure that the first is chicken of the wood. Lovely taste! Still aliveš
Thanks, Greta, good to know the ID. Still alive is good! š
