The last day we took the wildlife drive at Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge earlier this month wading birds were standing in a line across one of the ponds when we arrived.
Lots of opportunities for wildlife photography are about timing. Over the next ten minutes, as if there had been a secret signal, the entire line flew off in small groups. Some, like the Roseate Spoonbill below, tried moving down the line, but the tide was coming in making this a less appealing hang out.

What a fabulous sight! Wonderful!
It sure was and I’ve wondered if there were more before we got there…ten minutes later and we’d have missed it completely.
Wow! That is way cool! So many extraordinarily beautiful birds gathered thusly.
It must have been breathtaking in person.
