Holly With Yellow Flowers and an Insect

Holly With Yellow Flowers

This yellow flower stalk caught my eye, as did the roving dangly legged insect.

He wasn’t too impressed and moved on.

There wasn’t much to the plant, the leaves you see here were all there were, about three or four feet (1 Meter) off the ground.

I had not noticed these flowers before and don’t know if they are typical winter bloomers or if the relatively mild winter we are in has brought them out early.

    1. Oh, they do look like that, Liz, thank you, and I see I commented on your post but didn’t make the connection. As I’ve passed it by hundreds of times its sort of embarrassing I’ve never noticed it. I’ll be on the lookout for the berries as we move into the warm season here.

Since I spotted these I’ve seen some additional specimens that have that same ratty appearance of the stem but might have a better angle for the berries as we go forward. 🙂
