And they do flit, with speed.

The overgrown vegetation around the cactus kept me from getting a better angle. The possibility of snakes was top of my mind.

The flowers on their own were outstanding.

  1. Hans – Sverige – The blog is an attempt to give you all a piece of life in the outdoors. The richnes of life that is interwoven in an unbelievable pattern. Where we as humans are just one of the species in the crowd. A humble approach to nature should be our starting point.

Such a suitable camouflage in this case, the butterfly blends incredibly nicely into the flower’s petals.

  2. I have often chased these speedy little butterflies, Ellen, but rarely have I gotten one to perch on something as photogenic as your cactus flowers. There is a beautiful contrast between the cooler tones of the butterfly and the warmer yellow of the flowers that I really like.

    Gorgeous color combo!

  4. M.B. Henry – I've been crazy about History since my Ancient Egypt phase in the sixth grade. WWII and Military History took me over in high school, and I combined my writing endeavors with my historical ones to bring history to life. My debut Historical-Fiction Novel, "All the Lights Above Us," following five different women from different backgrounds as they struggle to survive D-Day, comes out in May, 2022.
