While watching the Roseate Skimmer featured in yesterday’s post I noticed a bloom in one of my pots that was nearly the same color as the dragonfly.
Sometimes if you wait long enough an insect will land where you would like to take its picture.
I don’t know the plant, it is a volunteer from one I had a few years ago. It doesn’t look exactly the same, but that fluffy magenta is familiar.

Wow. What a wonderful shot, Ellen. It is amazing enough to see a pink dragonfly, but the impact is magnified when it perches on a pink flower. Wow! Now you just need to get one to perch on a Roseate Spoonbill. 🙂
Thank you, Mike! I could hardly believe it when I turned around and there he was on that bloom. LOL, now that would be fun! Hopefully I’d stay calm enough to actually get a shot 😁.
I laughed when I read your response, Ellen, because I consciously try to calm myself when I stumble upon something really exciting. It is a careful balance because I often am trying to react quickly but calmly so that I can get a shot.
😁 I didn’t want to admit that I blew the first set of shots, but as you’ve had a shared experience I’ll say they were not in focus at all! I got lucky that the dragonfly stayed put for another 20 seconds or so then a bee pushed him off. I took a deep breath and was successful.
