All this empty shoreline and you had to land here?

The Great Blue Heron was tucked out of my sight until the Great Egret touched down.

The wading birds follow each other, usually hoping to capitalize on a good fishing opportunity. Why else would the Great Blue Heron have chosen this spot?

Yes, a good deal larger than the Great Egret. It is funny to watch the birds’ behaviors. Unless it is breeding season they are very tolerant of having others invade their space.
We use the same method in deer hunting.
Usually the guy who was already there is not pleased…

I’d think not! Amazingly the wading birds rarely show they even notice, just go about their business. Unless it is breeding season.
