I really like this silhouette shot, Ellen. I could tell it was a heron, but had to look at the proportions to realize that it was not a Great Blue Heron–I have seen Little Blue Herons only a few times and they were all juveniles, so I don’t have their shape imprinted in my brain (yet).
Thanks, Mike, glad that you liked it. There wasn’t much to give you a relative size idea, either. The Little Blues are a fun bird to watch, not quite as steely and patient as the Great Blues, and much more feisty in some of their actions.
