This Crested Caracara was incredibly photogenic and despite the low-light day we were having I got some amazing closeup images.

Ted and I recently attended our fifth Photography Day at the Center for Birds of Prey in Awenda, SC. Photographers have an opportunity to take close-up images of a number of birds of prey as well as some flight demonstrations. As always the staff and volunteers provided a fun and educational experience.

She does look a bit strict with that black cap on his head, but it is a beautiful bird of prey and I think your photos are very successful.
Strict is a good description, Rudi! Thank you, glad that you liked them.
I see a dignified bird. Nice shots, Ellen!
Thanks, Steve, glad that you liked them. Dignified, another good description…and that beak looks like a serious weapon.
Wow, I have never seen one of these before. Has a look of an eagle, but so colorful. Great shots.
Thanks, he was a real beauty, Sandra! And yes, stately and powerful like an eagle.
Picture perfect!
Thank you!
