A pair of Bald Eagles had been buzzing the pond where I captured the Great Egret Late Afternoon Flyby .
One of them ventured down the river and I got a nice view on his return a few minutes later. Knowing that he was probably coming back was a big help.

I was at the top of the hill above the pond, making his position almost eye level for me.

The timestamp on these three images shows they were within the same second.

😍❤️🤩
Amazing shots! I saw one in the field by our house the other day but I didn’t have my camera!
Thanks! Fun to see, even without the camera 😀
Nice shots, Ellen. Getting shots of flying birds is always a challenge and I have always found eagles to be one of the toughest to expose properly. It is easy to blow out the highlights on the white head or to lose the details in the shadows of the dark body.
Thanks, Mike. And so little time to think about it as they zip on by!
