Standing in a tree that in other years has hosted many wading bird nests, this Great Blue Heron was surveying the morning scene.

I moved along the pond edge, the Heron turned his head, and the freshly green tree looks quite lush behind him. I’m still surprised there isn’t a single nest in this tree.
