A Wilson’s Snipe was working a puddle left by the receding pond waters…

…poking and prodding his way along.

This last image is from the same area back in December. Although the bird didn’t turn into better light, I did like the water rings he was creating.

Love these little birds. We have at least 6 this year. But they’ve moved further away, back from the boardwalk, as the water level changed, so it’s harder to get a good shot.
They are another understated beauty with that color scheme. The water will be let back into this pond as soon as the burning is done and I expect these will move somewhere we can’t see them.
Yes! Do they nest and raise chicks in your area, Ellen?
