His feathers still well separated from being wet, this Anhinga must have just climbed out of the pond.
From a little further down the path, the tree reflections, pond surface, and light were quite different.

A wonderful, almost graphic image, of a very adaptable bird. Strange that it can fly with such a thin and wet plumage.
The Anhinga are fascinating to watch, first that they can swim underwater! And although the books say they need to dry off before flying or re-entering the water, that’s not always how the birds do it!
