Statue Diana of the Chase

Statue of Huntress

One of the first things I saw at Brookgreen Gardens’ Nights of a Thousand Candles was this statue in a reflecting pool. This first image was taken about a half hour before sunset. The lights floating in the pool were real hand-lit candles. The hanging lights were electric strands.

Note: I cloned three people out of the first image that were in the walkway behind the statue.

After dark the whole place felt quite magical and I passed by this statue again.

It wasn’t possible to read the plaques in the dark, but from research this seems to be a replica of Diana of the Chase by Anna Hyatt Huntington, who established Brookgreen Gardens with her husband in 1931. The original is in the care of the New-York Historical Society.
