Dried Flower Remnant

Almost a Cube, In Nature

These stems caught my eye, I was drawn to the cube shape of look of what appears to be the dried center of flower.

There was just enough breeze that I didn’t get super sharp shots.

I wish now that I had touched it to see if it contained seeds.

I passed this spot numerous times this summer and into the fall but have no recollection of what was blooming here, likely something I dismissed as a “weed.”

    1. Isn’t it!

In an odd coincidence, I actually saw a helpful post on Face*Book a couple days ago about this plant. Aptly, it is called Seedbox or Ratllebox and is widespread in the eastern US in wet areas. It has a pretty yellow flower through the growing season which I hope to remember to watch for this summer.
