The trees surrounding the Yellow-crowned Night-heron nesting area at Cypress Wetlands had filled in considerably in the two weeks since our previous visit.

I got a few glimpses of some mating behavior….

…but mostly it was butt end views.

Dangling Spanish Moss and a little breeze added to the sight line interference, but create some drama.

How exciting for you. Lovely photos.
I had no idea these herons could make their long white crown feathers stand straight up! That was something new for me, thanks!
🤗💛🤗🙌🏼 Great pics! Wow!!
On these you can see the yellow. The ones I have seen, it looks more white. GReat shots!
The color is definitely more pronounced as breeding season gets underway and then fades pretty quickly, in the ones I’ve seen. Thanks, glad that you liked them!
I haven’t seen them during breeding season, so they makes sense.
