A small flock of Black-necked Stilts were feeding in a shallow pool left when the water was drained from the big pond. Several of them appeared to be juveniles, both by their squawky constant communication and mottled brown feathers.

Interesting, I’m sure the juveniles must have been among the flocks I’ve seen, but I’ve never taken note of them. I’ll look harder. Great image with that spiky grass!
If the youngster hadn’t been making so much noise I probably wouldn’t have noticed. Thanks!
