I spotted this Assassin Bug parading up and down some reed leaves at the edge of a swamp boardwalk.
I was unfamiliar with this insect, and have learned via research, not getting bit, that the “fang” is the business end of his destructive powers. The rear end that sticks up in the back is not a stinger.
He made his way between leaves with a big stretch, no jumping.
Once securely on the other side he worked his way to the top.
He was small, around an inch ( 2.5cm) long and quite adept at walking upside down.
