This Snowy Egret was showing off his breeding plumage and his flexible feet.

Sometimes it seems like birds are showing off.

I was certainly impressed with this Snowy Egret’s flight skills.

He skimmed the pond in front of me with his toes in and out of the water.

I thought he was going to land, but he opted to pass on by.

A couple of Snowy Egrets were strutting around on a fallen snag while a few other wading birds were trying to mind their own business…

..or get out of the way.

The Snowies have the best moves,

and those fancy feet add some bling.
The Snowy Egrets were quite entertaining as the skipped and danced across the water.

There was so much going on it was hard to know where to look.

A few Roseate Spoonbills and Tricolored Herons were in the mix.

Whatever they were eating was very small, and the water was cloudy so I couldn’t see it.

Tip toes stirring the water.

A Snowy Egret was showing off as he poked around, maybe looking for nesting material, maybe just a courtship display.

He was looking pretty snazzy.

He showed me one more dip before he dropped into the vegetation, out of my sight.
