  1. What an amazing experience. Both of those species would be very agile in flight, must’ve been dramatic! Perhaps a mix of adult and young terns in there – some of the smaller birds had black beaks.. just guessing

    1. It is fascinating to watch them fly and turn as if one unit. When they finally flew off they stayed grouped up for only a short distance, spacing out more as they went out ver the water. I suspect that in addition to some being juveniles that there were multiple kinds of terns. And possibly some pipers, which are much smaller.
