Bouncing gently on a grass frond this Common Buckeye seemed quite content to stay put.

This bit of tall grass was within a mowed area that I was able to walk around the other side and still he didn’t move.

I haven’t seen many butterflies this summer and it was nice to watch this one for several minutes.

That grass looks like one I’m familiar with! When I lived in the north of NZ there was a grass with heads like that – they were sticky yuk things that one would try to avoid – paspallum I think it was called. Lovely photos though Ellen!
Interesting, Liz, maybe that sticky stuff is goodness for the butterflies!
These are stunning Ellen!
Thanks, Pete!
Terrific opportunity. Really wonderful photos Ellen!
Thanks, Belinda, glad that you liked them.
What a beauty
They do have a lovely color palette and design, Greta.
Lovely shots, he definitely deserved a ‘thank you’! š
Thanks, Donna! Nice when the creatures cooperate!
