These bright red seeds got my attention in a tangle of vegetation on the side of a pond dike.
Following their stem they I couldn’t identify any corresponding leaves.
I wanted to get a different angle but I was not willing to step any further in; biting insects are my biggest concern.
Perhaps this is Texas Mountain Laurel based on a search for “red seeds in pods.”

Those are very interesting, such a vibrant color, usually if seeds are that colorful it means they might not be good. As far as consumption, but such an interesting seed pod. I love finding stuff like that. š
Yes, it’s like they are trying to pull you in with their beauty and ignore the consequences! I went back a few days later to see if I could get another angle. They were still there, but I didn’t change my mind about stepping into the undergrowth š . Me, too!
