I was on a dike between two ponds, one of which was a perfect spot for these passing Roseate Spoonbills to land, at least to my eye.

They had other ideas about cutting their flight short but gave me a nice fly-by show.

Maybe they already had breakfast.

Then they disappeared into the distance.

Some really strange birds, like flying freshly cooked giant prawns with spoons in their mouths.
Good description, Hans! They are other-worldly looking and a delight to watch closer up.
What a sight this must be seeing all this pink flying through the air. I have never seen one of these except in both of your photos. Such a cool looking bird.
The Spoonbills sure are a sight, Sandra, between their color and amazing beak shape!
