When I was much less experienced at identifying birds, I thought it was pretty straightforward. Then I learned that the birds looked different based on their gender and age and on the time of the year and sometimes on their geographic location. Breeding colors are super special as the birds take on fanciful colors and plumage.
Ha, what you don’t know that you don’t know can bring you down! I’m not sure there is room in my head for all that info about dragonflies. Maybe because the birds got there first.
In may case, Ellen, it is the opposite way around–birds became my wintertime subject because there were no more dragonflies. 🙂
