These yellow cactus flowers in full bloom had a few Cloudless Sulphur Butterflies flitting around them.

And they do flit, with speed.

The overgrown vegetation around the cactus kept me from getting a better angle. The possibility of snakes was top of my mind.

The flowers on their own were outstanding.

Such a suitable camouflage in this case, the butterfly blends incredibly nicely into the flower’s petals.
Good observation, Hans. I hadn’t really noticed how similar the shape of the wings and the petals were until you said that.
I have often chased these speedy little butterflies, Ellen, but rarely have I gotten one to perch on something as photogenic as your cactus flowers. There is a beautiful contrast between the cooler tones of the butterfly and the warmer yellow of the flowers that I really like.
Speedy they are. And not much on returning to a spot, either! Flit, flit, gone…
Glad that you liked them, Mike.
Gorgeous color combo!
Glad that you liked it!
How pretty! Love the yellow on yellow
Thank you, MBHenry!
Lovely colours!
The brilliance of those flowers was intense, Liz. I saw them from a distance and just had to go look, then got the butterfly bonus.
