This dragonfly was determined to perch at the point of an unopened mandevilla bloom, but couldn’t seem to hold still.

He appeared to be scratching his chin, repeating this motion several times.

He did settle in, allowing me to maneuver to another view.

Nice series and I love the title 😂
Thanks ☺️
Maybe using sign language, “Open up, I’m hungry” to the flower 😉 That last pic is unnerving to me. Thank goodness dragonflies are as small as they are.
An unqualified yes.
Yes dragonflies have chins.
What else would such a contemplative insect be touching, as in the center photo?
It reminds me of the statue “The Thinker”.
Rodan, I think, was the sculptor.
Or maybe Rodan was the creature that fought Godzilla, and looked not dissimilar to this little fella.

Just to help you, it was Rodin. He was a famous 19th century French sculptor.
Oh, I had to look that up: Rodan — a creature in a 1950s monster movie, which led to the whole Godzilla enterprise. Not my cup of tea!
Yes, this fellow was like “The Thinker” (Rodin), and much more appealing although the dragonflies are a bit monster looking up close.
Well, they are called DRAGON flies, after all.
Although butterflies rarely look like butter…
Hmmm…
🦋 So true…

Yes, dragonflies have chins, but they don’t bite us.
Love this series, Ellen.
Thanks, Greta, glad that you liked them! It’s been fun this summer having these fellows in my back yard as we haven’t been getting out much. Heat, rain and COVID have kept us from many plans.
