A few Great Blue Herons are staking out their nest sites. I didn’t see any stick gathering going on, just some squabbling. This fellow was standing firm in the remnants of last year’s nest.

Awesom shot Ellen.
Thank you, Rudi!
That’s a great shot 👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks 😊
Great capture, Ellen. Love the yellowish autumn color in the back, makes the GBH standing out.
Thanks, Greta. He sure picked a lovely spot!
Wonderful framing and light!
Thanks, Steve, glad you liked it!
And so it begins… Wonderful photo, Ellen!
Thanks, Belinda! The pond at this rookery is becoming choked with vegetation and I’m hoping it won’t affect the breeding birds in an adverse way.
Thanks for promoting Sweden in blue and yellow…
😁
How wonderful that he is surrounded by an aura of yellow light.
We’ve had some spectacular fall color this month, and I was happy to get him lined up with that turning tree.
Nice setup and composition with the yellow, Ellen!
Thanks, Donna! Fun to get a big bird with a little different environment.
