Getting to the Wildlife Management Area early payed off yesterday with some gorgeous early light and a small flock of American White Pelicans.

These two were fairly close to the dike and the marsh grass made a nice reflection in the water.

Back and forth, a cool profile shadow on the leader.

And an occasional gulp of a snack.

I love the warm color of the water in the background. Beautiful shots Ellen.
Thank you, Rudi, the early morning sun made an unexpected and lovely reflection with the reeds that edge the pond.
How beautifully the water is reflected in their plumage.
Glad you liked that, Hans. The water was calm, just little ripples from the Pelican’s paddling.
Agreed, as difficult as it can be to get there real early, that morning light and air is always so worth it, isn’t it, Ellen?!
I hope the white pelicans are heading our way sometime soon!
It sure is, Carol, and we are going to try again in the morning! We’re having an above temp week, nearly 80 today and then through Sunday. Then, wham, we’ll be back to more seasonable temperatures with light frosts overnight and highs in the 50s. That may push them along.
