Thanks, Mike. That was a perfect day for the 180 lens, with minimal breeze.
As you have undoubtedly realized, the lack of image stabilization on the 180mm lens means you have to pay a lot of attention to the way that you are holding the lens and to external factors like the wind, which can cause both you and the subject to move.
Yes, and with such small subjects a little breeze is very noticeable. In our yard I sometimes use the Canon 100mm because I can often physically get closer without worrying about snakes or 🐊 .
