We came across a flock of Roseate Spoonbills as the fog was lifting yesterday, about a half hour after sunrise.
Our hopes of getting on the other side of them for better light did not pan out.

The pink of those Roseate Spoonbills is stunning, no matter what the lighting conditions are like. I love the way, Ellen, that you captured so many different body positions as they were taking off–it is always tough for me to try to capture a shot of a group of birds.
That pink never gets old, Mike! Glad that you liked them. I tend to shoot in Continuous / Slow mode and hold the button down for scenes like this. Slow on the 7D Mark II you don’t get quite as may images to go through, but hopefully get some good action.
I too tend to shoot is short bursts for similar reasons. Some of the new cameras boast speeds of 15 frames a second or more–I can’t imagine having to sort through that many images looking for the best ones.
