An island, or maybe just a tree line, where most of the palm trees are dead or dying. The morning we were there started out foggy and the Black Vultures were slow to get into the air. A few started flapping their wings, perhaps to warm up. At least one Roseate Spoonbill silhouette was visible and a Wood Stork flew by. It was quite spectacular.

It’s great fun scrolling around that photo finding the pink birds 😀
Glad you enjoyed that, Liz! They were hard to see in person on that foggy morning, I was happy to to see them in the photo.
What a pity the palm trees are all dead or dying. I love palmtrees. We don’t have them over here. Why are they dead ?
Many of them across Florida have succumbed to a bacterial disease that results in ” Lethal Bronzing.” It is theorized that it spread from Mexico or Texas via a storm in 2006. I don’t know if that’s what killed these ones; I’ve wondered if it is because they are in standing water year-round and can’t tolerate that much water.
I love them, too, and was amazed to learn there are around a dozen native varieties in the southeastern US.
