Assateague Island, Wild Ponies

Assateague Island, Virginia is home to 120 or so wild ponies. We saw 18 or 20 from the “Southern Herd” on our recent visit, both from a boat tour and on the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge wildlife drive.

  1. Sorry I’ve not been on WP for a couple of months Ellen. Look what I’ve been missing. The last photo is specially adorable! From scrolling down the feed I see you and Ted have taken lots of pony pictures.. wonderful! I’ve read his story about the background to the deferred trip. Much love, Liz.

    1. Hi, Liz, so nice to hear from you! I’ve only been here in fits and starts myself.

It was a fun trip, a beautiful area, and just fascinating to learn about these ponies that we’ve talked about visiting for years.

I hope you are well and taking good care of yourself ❤️. Love to you, Ellen
