Ted spotted the unmistakable swirl of a Dolphin as we walked along the river. I had the short 14-42mm lens on my camera, and no time to change as we knew from experience the opportunity would be short.
I got to an opening in the foliage and spotted the Dolphin well out of range down the river towards Charleston. Darn!
Then another surprise–two more Dolphin were following behind the first. These photos exceeded my expectations considering the low light and it was the first time I had used that lens.

Wow, what a thrill that must have been! I never thought of seeing dolphins in a river, but they must have stayed in the brackish water, and probably enjoyed the shelter of the banks. Great shots – I typically am so slow, I get only their tails.
It sure was, Sam! I’ve seen them here and in some marsh areas a few times over the years. I know they follow the food, but sometimes it seems like they just like having an adventure.
I almost didn’t try for these shots because I have so many of just their tails 🤣
What a sight!
Nicely done, Ellen. How exciting!
Thanks, Belinda, and yes it’s always fun to see a Dolphin even without getting a picture.
Beautiful dolphin captures!
Thank you, and thanks for stopping by!
