Another swamp beauty…

I’ve developed a few more images from April 5, the amazing Damselfly dance.

I know tall images don’t always display well in Word Press, but I did like this with the iris in the background.

I did sit on the ground a couple of times, but concern about ants and alligators kept me from lingering with the low view.

Mating Damselflies, On Iris Part 1
Before I could get a bloom of one of these iris in focus I recognized movement over the water as being dragonfly-like. Knowing the flowers would wait I turned my attention to what turned out to be damselflies.

At least a dozen pairs of mating Damselflies in several colors lit in the iris patch. They were quite small; I may have over sharpened these images. I have more and will try something different.

I was admiring a patch of Purple Iris when this busy bee caught my attention.

The bee’s yellow was a nice match for the Iris’s accent color.

Hovering to assess the situation, he seemed to have rather long hind legs.

He came back to this bloom several times.

Then, on to the next flower…

April 22, 2019
Taken with Ted’s Canon 70D, while my 7D was being repaired.
Falling into the swamp lined with duck weed this stem of purple Iris created a colorful reflection.

Depending on where I stood the water either reflected the sky or the green fronds of the standing patch of iris.

A closer look at the stem reveals flowers in various stages of bloom.

This last image was taken about an hour later from about the same spot as the first one above, with the sun no longer directly on the flower.
