The Cottonmouth Snake went on his way and disappeared into the swamp.

More of the Cottonmouth Snake as he moved away from me…
These water ripples were caused by the snake, making an interesting interaction with the the surface tension along his side.

Some other ripples were caused by caterpillars falling from the trees.

The snake swam away slowly…

…Â in an out of the tree shadows.

This White Ibis had been feeding at the edges of a small pond then opted to wade to the other side, passing around a Cyprus Tree.

The reflections created by new foliage were lovely.

And his slow speed made just a faint ripple in the water.

He climbed out of the water and spent a few minutes just looking around.

As is sometimes the case with White Ibis, I heard them before I saw them, at first thinking the mumble, mumble was a human. Then a caught a glimpse.

There were a half dozen of them poking around in this swampy area, and this one gave me an unobstructed view.

And a bit of reflection.

Another series from yesterday’s grey experience, a Tricolored Heron feeding in the same shallow pond as the Avocet.

Incredible patience…

The pounce…

And it paid off!

I took these images from a boardwalk, above the action, in the late morning when the sun was nicely angled into this corner.

From this angle I could really see how the bird was rotating his wings, not just flapping.

The maintenance crew had been flushing the water in this pond.

I could see the bottom suspect that it is some kind of cement or manufactured material to hold in the water and ensure the alligators can’t burrow out.

This fellow wasn’t having great success on cleaning his shoulders, which may explain why he kept at it.

Taking a pause…
