Actually two small green bugs, assuming that is two sets of antennae. I was looking for tree frogs but this just wasn’t their day to bask in a flower bloom.
I love Calla lilies and this is a beautiful shot, Ellen. I suspect the little insects are katydid nymphs, because katydids often have antennae that are longer than their bodies. It may come as a surprise given my well-established love of dragonflies, but my favorite insect is a kaydid, specifically the amazing Handsome Meadow Katydid. Thanks, Mike! I tend to have a peak in a lot of blooms when I’m around this pond. This was one of those times I wished for a step stool so I could look further down in the bloom 😁. I’m still amazed I live somewhere that Calla lilies are more than a bouquet item.
Well, I can see why that Handsome one is your favorite. Wow!
So funny and cute! Love this photo 😀
Thanks, Liz!

Thanks, also, for the ID info, I hadn’t thought of Katydid as they were so small even thought the antennae sure point that way!
