A dragonfly, resting on a dried twig in front of now forgotten orange vegetation.

Taken at the Okefenokee Swamp back in April, I hadn’t published this post as I work on learning more about dragonfly ID. Cleaning up my drafts today, and I think this is a female Great Blue Skimmer.
What a beauty! Wonderful photo!
Thank you, that splash of orange really made it!
Pretty shot, awesome background colors!
Thanks, Donna!
Beautiful shot, Ellen. I tend to lean towards this being a female Blue Dasher, though I can’t tell for certain. I seem to see some striping on the thorax, which suggests a Blue Dasher, and the tip of the abdomen does not seem as enlarged as on female Great Blue Skimmers.
Thanks, Mike. I need to go back and see if I got other images, although this may have been just a single lucky landing.
