Turkey Vulture, Up Close

I know, not the most attractive bird up close with the bald head, but check out the feather colors.

  1. I love Turkey Vultures. Some of the most incredible flyers. They can climb to 1,000 feet hardly flapping a wing, soaring on air currents like a glider. More than once I have flown my r/c plane in a big, slow, lazy circle up around 400 feet, and had Turkey Vultures join me! (Or perhaps closer to the truth to say they permitted me, however briefly, to join them!)
My plane is about their size, and they seem to be quite intrigued by the “foreigner”!

    1. They are fascinating to watch, I often think they are flying just for the fun of it! Oh, how cool is that! And interesting that they show that curiosity about the plane.
