I never fail to be startled by the bright emerald green of Eastern Pondhawks. I love that you were able to capture shots of it perching on colorful flowers–most of the time I see them perching on the ground on on low vegetation.
That green is a fabulous color and I had a great opportunity with the flowers almost at my eye level the way the pond edge sloped. I was surprised, too, using that ground perching behavior to help identify doesn’t always work!
The nice color contrast turns it into a special shot.
