Skipper Butterfly on Thistle
Parts of Black Point Wildlife Drive were lined with thistle when I was there in mid-April. Most of the blooms had gone by, but a few were on a different schedule.
A few Skippers were taking full advantage.
Most of the plants looked like some variation of this.

Skipper on Garlic Flower
I think this is garlic, or maybe a relative in the allium family, growing in the barnyard garden at Middleton Place.
A Silver-spotted Skipper was making his way down the patch.

Late Season Skipper and Dragonfly
I walked a new to me trail that I thought was all woodland, but found it passed through a small field.
There were a number of insects around the edge.

Skipper on Purple Wildflowers
These pretty lilac colored flowers caught my eye at the edge of a pond; a Skipper was attracted to them, too.
The Skipper gave up the seed head for an adjacent cluster of flowers.
Where he seemed to be quite satisfied.
Skipper on Zinnia, Eye Level
The flower stem was tall and my path was slightly below the flowerbed level giving me a look straight onto this Zinnia blossom.
