A pair of Black-necked Stilts swooped on by me as I stood on a dike at Orlando Wetlands.

Often described as “stately” due to their color scheme and long legs, they are also elegant flyers.

And fly they did, right on to the other side of this impoundment.

I don’t think I’ve ever been there when the stilts have been. We have some Black-necked Stilts here in Palm Beach County now, and I think they just started nesting.
There were just a few—this pair, and went back two days later and saw 3 or 4 feeding.
They are fascinating to watch, would be very neat to see a chick!
