This canal runs along side an old rice field impoundment and on this morning it was hopping with little fish.

A Snowy Egret was showing off how to catch breakfast while keeping your wings dry.

They swallow as they go so it’s hard to say if he was successful.

Let’s try this again…

Drag your toes in the water… then a face plant…

Then liftoff!

The Alligator was just a bonus.

Talented fisherman and beautifully shot, Ellen! I love the background as well. It looks like fall has begun there.
Thanks, Belinda! Yes, we are starting to see some hints of fall with the grasses turning and vegetation in general slumping down.
Do you get a big color splash from the changing leaves where you are?
Yes we do, it starts in mid-September through mid-October. Makes winter almost bearable 😏
Nice action shots! I love it when they are so busy that they don’t notice that they’re being watched.
Thanks, Rebecca! Yes, and then you can see in your images what was really happening when they are zipping along.
Nice fishing action pictures
Thanks, Rudi!
