I was on a boardwalk over a swamp when this Ebony Jewelwing Damselfly perched on a leaf.

I was hoping for a view of the metallic blue-green color they are known for.

I never got that angle, but the wing opening and closing series was pretty interesting.

Very pretty! ~lovely to see the variety of shots.
Thanks, Liz! These damselflies like the darker forested areas, it was nice to see one out in the sunlight.
Wow! Stunning shots, Ellen!
Thanks, Peter!
This is a gorgeous damselfly, captured stunningly, Ellen!
Thanks, Donna! Glad that you liked them. I thought I might have over processed them; when I looked at them at first I was disappointed they weren’t sharper. Then I remembered I wasn’t alone on the wooden boardwalk when I took them. I should have gone to a higher speed to compensate for shake. I had that happen again yesterday, reminding me why I like to shoot alone especially when the subject is small 😊 .
I love it when Ebony Jewelwings flutter their wings like that. In my experience the males are often brighter in color and more iridescent than the females like this one.
