Ebony Jewelwing Damselfly, Open and Closed

I was on a boardwalk over a swamp when this Ebony Jewelwing Damselfly perched on a leaf.

I was hoping for a view of the metallic blue-green  color they are known for.

I never got that angle, but the wing opening and closing series was pretty interesting.

    1. Thanks, Donna! Glad that you liked them. I thought I might have over processed them; when I looked at them at first I was disappointed they weren’t sharper. Then I remembered I wasn’t alone on the wooden boardwalk when I took them. I should have gone to a higher speed to compensate for shake. I had that happen again yesterday, reminding me why I like to shoot alone especially when the subject is small 😊 .

  1. I love it when Ebony Jewelwings flutter their wings like that. In my experience the males are often brighter in color and more iridescent than the females like this one.
