We spotted some Roseate Spoonbills at the start of our first trip around Black Point Wildlife Drive on our New Years trip to Florida.

This section of the marsh is often nearly dry, but higher than normal December rains had provided enough water depth for the Spoonbills to wade and forage.

I saw so many Rosie at Merritt Island, but the ones that appear here in our local wetlands, always seem to escape my camera!
LOL. Glad to hear that you have some around your area. I know they face a lot of challenges to survive.
It always seems to be dependent on the water levels in our wetlands. Just the right level can draw many of them at once. Otherwise we only see a handful here and there. They always draw a crowd!
I’ve probably commented on this before, but Audubon Florida has a great video documenting how narrow the water level is that Spoonbills can tolerate. Fascinating stuff!
I’ll have to go back and check, but I’m sure I must’ve seen it somewhere along the line ☺️
