Actually two chicks, you can just make out the fuzz of the second one in front of the one that is standing.

This Great Egret mated pair became aware of a neighbor getting a bit close!

Head feathers up, protective stance…

A Reddish Egret, just standing around, in the grass at the edge of a mangrove.

Reddish Egrets are known for the animated way they hunt, dashing back and forth in the water.

You can see my post Reddish Egret, End of Day Feeding to see how that looks.

I’ve seen them perched on top of mangroves, but this is the first time I’d seen one hunkered down in the marsh vegetation.
