As I passed the Armadillo Pair I was able to get a few closer images of just one.
They spent most of their time rooting through the leaves and pine needles, searching out insects to eat.
Eventually, he meandered off into the woods leaving me with an interesting view of his segmented tail.

Usually when I see an Armadillo it is partially hidden by heavy brush or making a fast exit. This was one of the few times I’ve seen Armadillos out in the open and the first time I’ve seen a pair together.
They were just off a wooded walking path, very intent with their snouts to the ground.
As I walked towards them they didn’t give any indication they heard me.
They just kept rooting around in the pine needles as I passed by.

Like nature shows on tv, our nature boat trip to Bird Key to see the Brown Pelican chicks included some mating. This time is was not birds, but Dolphins.
Our boat captain and guide spotted a pod of Dolphins on our return trip up the Kiawah River. He was quick to say he thought we’d also see some mating based on his interpretation of what we were seeing.
From our distance on a bobbing boat it was hard to say for sure, but scenes frozen by the camera tell the story. Before you scroll on I’ll tell you that even at a distance they are graphic. And amazing.
The gestation period for Bottlenose Dolphins is twelve months. Tune in a year from now and we may see a calf.

Continued from Water Buffalo: Breakfast!
Water Buffalo #2 did not have the hangries, and was more of a saunterer.
The two Mallards continued their way around the Buffalo watering hole.
I’m coming…
…and there was plenty of hay for them both.
The Water Buffalo pair at Middleton Place spend their nights in an enclosed paddock at the back of the stable yard area. I arrived one recent morning just in time to see them let out into their daytime space, and breakfast.
A pair of Mallards interrupted their morning stroll as the first beast skipped on by.
Yes, he was practically skipping with happiness.
Evidently he had the hangries!
This was a cool morning and a spot in the sun was welcome.
All comfy now, time for 40 winks.

I’ve now taken hundreds of pictures of the three little lambs investigating their world; here’s a selection from April 21st.
The moms know it is almost feeding time; the lambs — well two of them — have their interest piqued, too.
The lambs are now getting a share of their moms’ grain.
The lambs aren’t yet as diligent about getting their grain.
Just cute!
Single lamb was born on April 7th, and the set of twins was born April 9th.
I visited the lambs at Middleton Place on April 17th and gave a chuckle when I saw this scene of the 9 day old cutie using snuggling up with mom.
A chuckle, not an outright laugh, because I could not spot the twin lamb.
After junior 1 settled on the ground for another nap I could just see another white tuft behind mom. Phew!
Junior 2 had been nestled in on mom’s other side.
She took a little stroll and it wasn’t long before they both hopped up to join her.
