We stopped by a boggy spot affectionately known as the frog farm where we frequently see tree frogs, dragonflies, anoles…all sorts of little creatures hanging out on the plants.
On Tuesday we saw just the flowers, including this near-perfect Cana Lily.

Two large grasshoppers were methodically munching on a Canna Lily. It was too hot to stay and watch them but I suspect that they didn’t stop until the bloom was gone.

There is a low, wet spot on the non-river side of the Plantation House that has a nice show of orange Canna Lilies. Frogs and dragonflies are frequent visitors on the tall lily stems, but on this day it was just the flowers.

I’ve seen various lilies showing off around Magnolia Plantation and Gardens this past week.
I don’t recall seeing this color arrangement before with alternating petals, but it sure is attractive.
This white lily had near perfect form, if messy pollen.
There is a small patch of Canna Lilies at the edge of the big field at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. It’s a wet spot and the lilies and cattails seem pretty happy there.
This dragonfly found an unfurled blossom a nice place to perch on a hot day. True to form he lifted off just as I was ready to shoot then returned to the exact same spot,
The orange and yellow combination of the flowers is quite attractive, shouting out “summer!”
